Tube dryer goes on a journey
Gigantic steel colussus leaves Hamm in direction Lingen
At the beginning of May 2017 a gigantic steel colossus began to move towards Lingen (Emsland). Destination is the local BP refinery. The 118 ton-heavy and 26 metre-long large component is a so-called tube dryer that is used to dry petroleum coke, a solid derived from petroleum.
The company Hoffmeier Industrieanlagen dismantled the old tube dryer, loaded it onto a barge and scrapped it. Up to 18 Hoffmeier employees were working there. The dryer's production took about five months, according to the company. Due to the size of the large component, transport by road was not possible.
