Transport by crane

The supervisor

  • only uses properly trained and commissioned employees to operate cranes
  • regularly ensures suitability in accordance with BG Regulation G25 "Driving, Control and Monitoring Activities"
  • conducts or arranges instructions
  • provides the necessary PSA
  • organizes the inspection of cranes and handling equipment
  • Removes defects immediately

The employee

  • selects equipment for load transport depending on weight and shape of the goods to be transported (center of gravity)
  • inspects equipment means for stopping for obvious defects before use
  • does not transport loads into the paths of people
  • provides transport of goods only to designated storage areas
  • secures the crane against unauthorized use

Transport by hand

The supervisor

  • Instructs employees in load handling and lets them practice movement sequences
  • reduces existing burdens through technical, organizational and personal measures
  • provides suitable tools
  • establishes "reasonable" weight limits for manual load transport (youths, pregnant women)
  • takes into account the physical fitness of the employees, e.g. through occupational health checkups

The employee

  • pays close attention to body posture and avoids misuse
  • uses equipment/tools for hand transport, e.g. straps, hand magnets, pallet trucks, etc.
  • does not transport bulky and heavy loads alone
  • makes suggestions for reducing hand transports
  • uses personal protection equipment, such as safety gloves and safety shoes
  • Keeps traffic routes and emergency exits clear
